Its War – Ron Paul refuses to endorse Mitt Romney, rejects convention speaking slot
After months of attempts by Mitt Romney and the GOP establishment to bully Ron Paul into abandoning his beliefs by endorsing Mitt Romney and the GOp machine, the issue has come to a head. Late last week Ron Paul announced that he has refused to endorse Mitt Romney and will not speak at this week’s GOP National Convention in Tampa.
News of this came as little surprise to us Ron Paul supporters given the nasty treatment that Dr. Paul and his supporters have received from the establishment candidates and their supporters. Its obvious in my view and in the view of millions of other Paul supporters in the GOP that there is not a place at the table for us and our ideas. In other words we effectively stand apart from the Republican Party and as such we will need to find a new party or start a new party that will support Ron Paul and his plans, but that is a topic for another story.
In an interview with the liberal dirt rag known as the New York Times, Paul said convention planners had offered him an opportunity to speak under two conditions: that he deliver remarks vetted by the Romney campaign, and that he give a full-fledged endorsement of Mr. Romney.
“It wouldn’t be my speech,” Mr. Paul said. “That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president.”
Ron Paul refused both of these demands, which has exasperated the division between the RINO GOP Establishment and the Ron Paul supporters.
Paul’s dedicated following had already vowed to show up at the convention en masse and push to nominate him from the floor to represent the party. We will have to see if the Ron Paul delegates will even be seated by the GOP before they will be allowed to pull off such a maneuver. I bet that we will see some fireworks on Wednesday – August 29th when the GOP seats the delegates for the convention. The fireworks that I speak of will likely come in the shape of many Paul delegations being turned away and in their place the GOP will seat a bogus Romney group.
In an event to try to reach out to the Ron Paul delegates and make some peace with them the GOP has announced that they will show a tribute video about Ron Paul… obviously the GOP is run by idiots if they think that we Ron Paul supporters will be placated and duped into falling in line after all they have done to undermine us and our candidate.
The GOP and Romney can go to hell… this Ron Paul supporter is not only going to leave the Republican Party as fast as I can, but I’m also going write in “Ron Paul” for President… given the nasty treatment that Ron Paul supporters and Ron Paul himself have encountered over the past year by the GOP and their talking heads on FOX, why in the hell would the GOP think that we would be impressed with a “Mitt Romney” approved tribute video about Dr. Paul? If anything it just pisses us off even more.
As the great Dr. Savage once said… “Don’t piss down my back and call it rain”
