2012 Hernando Voters Guide…

Well after much anticipation and a flood of requests from our readers, we here at the Heckler have put in the hard work of vetting every candidate and proposed new law that you the voters of Hernando County, FL will be charged with voting for or against in November.

We vetted each candidate, and proposed new law based on how the new law, or the values, philosophy, ideology, and statements of the candidates would impact the freedom of the voters of Hernando County from the stand point of a Libertarian minded person. If you are a Marxist-Progressive (i.e. Democrat) or a Conservative -Progressive (i.e. Republican) then please take notes on our vetted preferred choices… hopefully by taking notes and trying to wrap your feeble minds around Libertarianism then maybe we can hopefully for the first time in human history “fix stupid”.

Based upon Libertarian principles this is how you should vote this November… now keep in mind we have put a lot of deep thought into these selections which is why we have not posted any new stories in the past 2 weeks. Well without further delay here is the 2012 Hernando Heckler – General Election Voter Guide:

  • President:
    • Our Pick – Either vote for Mitt Romney (R), Gary Johnson (L), or if you are like me write in Ron Paul. Why? Mitt Romney (R) is just “Obama Light” and will do nothing to fix the government and will instead keep the status quo as he adds his own level of bureaucratic red tape to the existing mountain of red tape. Mitt will do what Bush did, which is just keep the seat warm for the next Marxist President who will be elected in 4-8 years. Gary Johnson is the Libertarian nominee and Ron Paul is the only good Republican Party leader. So its either you vote for a lame duck just to get Obama out, or you take a stand on your values and either vote for Johnson or write in Paul.
  • United States Senator:
    • Our Pick – Connie Mack (R).
  • U.S. House of Representatives – District #11:
    • Our Pick – David Werder (D). Why? Dick Nugent (R) failed to keep his campaign promises and has voted to renew the Patriot Act, voted to allow Spy Drones over U.S. soil, and voted for a bill that would had given Obama the power to jail anyone he wanted for any reason.
  • FL State Senator – District #18:
    • Our Pick – Wilton Simpson (R).
  • FL State House Rep – District #35:
    • Our Pick – Rose Rocco (D). Why? Robert Schenck voted to support new Florida laws that will require Floridians to replace their septic tanks and roofs every few years.
  • Hernando County Sheriff:
    • Our Pick – Al Nienhuis (R).
  • Hernando County – Supervisor of Elections:
    • Our Pick – Elizabeth Townsend (D). Why? Shirley Anderson is unqualified to be the Supervisor of Elections, she was a secretary for Dick Nugent. Also she was handpicked by the head of the Hernando GOP to run for this seat, and the head of the Hernando GOP is a corrupt person from New Jersey that might use Anderson to influence future elections.
  • Hernando County Board of County Commissioners – Dist #1:
    • Our Pick – Joseph Swilley Sr. (I).
  • Hernando County Board of County Commissioners – Dist #3:
    • Our Pick – Jason Sager (R).
  • Hernando County Board of County Commissioners – Dist #5:
    • Our Pick – Jim Adkins (R).
  • FL Supreme Court Justice – Shall Justice R. Fred Lewis of the Supreme Court be retained in office?:
    • Our Pick – No. Why? Justice Fred Lewis was one of three Florida Supreme Court Justices that chose to uphold Obamacare. This guy is a flaming Marxist who does not under stand the Constitution or the intent of the founders and as such is unqualified to be a Justice.
  • FL Supreme Court Justice – Shall Justice Barbara J. Pariente of the Supreme Court be retained in office?
    • Our Pick – No. Why? Justice Barbara Pariente was one of three Florida Supreme Court Justices that chose to uphold Obamacare. This gal is a flaming Marxist who does not under stand the Constitution or the intent of the founders and as such is unqualified to be a Justice.
  • FL Supreme Court Justice – Shall Justice Peggy A. Quince of the Supreme Court be retained in office?
    • Our Pick – No. Why? Justice Peggy Quince was one of three Florida Supreme Court Justices that chose to uphold Obamacare. This gal is a flaming Marxist who does not under stand the Constitution or the intent of the founders and as such is unqualified to be a Justice.
  • Hernando School Board – District #4:
    • Our Pick – Robert Neuhausen.
  • No. 1 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Healthcare Services:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? This will effectively nullify the Federal mandate of Obamacare. Thus if this passes and becomes a Constitutional Amendment to the FL Constitution then Floridians will not be subject to the provisions of Obamacare. It will also nullify the attempts of the Republicans to take over Obamacare, modify it, and then turn it into Elephantcare.
  • No. 2 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Disabled Veterans Homestead Property Tax Discount:
    • Our Pick – No. Why? This benefit already exists for Florida born Veterans, and this proposed constitutional amendment will extend this benefit for foreign (non-Floridian) veterans from other States, and other allied NATO countries.
  • No. 3 – FL Constitutional Amendment – State Government Revenue Limitation:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? This will change how the State views revenue and how it is deposited into the State Stabilization Fund which is used to maintain government schools and universities. Currently revenue is broken down by income levels, and the State wants to change it so that revenue is broken down by inflation and population changes.
  • No. 5 – FL Constitutional Amendment – State Courts:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? This will give the State Legislature more power in the selection and appointment of State Judges and State Justices. This rule is good because it gives the people the power (by their State Senator or House Rep) to challenge State Court appointments by the Governor.
  • No. 6 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Prohibition on Public Funding of Abortions:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? As a Southern Libertarian’s we here at the Heckler are against senseless abortions that are not due to rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. As a Libertarian in general I’m against the government taking money out of my paycheck to pay for some “slut” to get an abortion (i.e. murder a baby) because she can’t keep her legs closed.
  • No. 8 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Religious Freedom:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? The proposed measure would prevent individuals from being barred from participating in public programs if they choose to use public funds at a religious provider. Essentially, the measure moves to repeal the state’s ban of public dollars for religious funding, also known as the “Blaine Amendment.
  • No.9 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Homestead Property Tax Exemption for surviving spouse of military veterans or first responder (i.e. Fire, Police, EMT, etc.):
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? This is a no brainer… basically the surviving spouse (male or female) of a solider, fire fighter, police officer, jail guard, or EMT that is killed in the line of duty would be given an extra permanent homestead property tax exemption to help them live without their spouse’s income.
  • No. 10 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Tangible Personal Property Tax Exemption:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? The passage of this amendment would allow personal individuals and businesses operating within the State of Florida to get a tax exemption for tangible property that is greater then $25,000 but less then $50,000. Tangible property is defined as property that can be touched or seen that is not land or buildings. This is designed to help small businesses out who are taxed for certain property items.
  • No. 11 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Additional Homestead Property Tax Exemption for Low Income Seniors who Maintain a Permanent Long-Term Residence within Florida:
    • Our Pick – Yes. Why? Well we hate taxes and why not give the low-income seniors a tax break. If it was up to use then we would just do away with all property taxes. After all if they can tax you for something then you don’t really own it, but instead rent it from the government.
  • No. 12 – FL Constitutional Amendment – Appointment of Student Body President to SUS:
    • Our Pick – Who Cares. Why? This is a bureaucratic position change… a student body President is already on the SUS, and all this rule does is replace that bureaucratic stooge with another one. So who cares you can vote yes or no.
  • Non-Binding Referendum to Acquire and Manage Lands Deemed Critical to Hernando County’s Environment:
    • Our Pick – No. Why? This is a .1 mil tax that we the residents of Hernando County have to pay to the government of Hernando County so it can buy sensitive environmental lands that is viral to Hernando’s natural beauty. Since this went into effect the County has done nothing to stop rampant development in Spring Hill, which is now over developed, and it has done nothing to buy the Chisengut Plantation. Instead the County has used this money to buy land around the airport which it plans to sell at a later date to sell to the highest paying Yankee developer. As Florida Libertarian’s we here at the Heckler oppose taxes but see a need to have a program like this to prevent the Yankee developers from building out our County. The only problem with this “critical lands” deal is that the Commission is in the pocket of the developers and as such the County has only purchased lands around the airport which are not environmentally critical in nature.
  • Non-Binding Referendum Regarding the Continuance of Mosquito and other Pest Insect Control Services in Hernando County:
    • Our Pick – No. Why? This is another .1 mil tax for another failed government program that can be scraped. The mosquito control of Hernando County is very ineffective and has done nothing to prevent the spread of mosquito’s in Spring Hill where there are hundreds of empty houses with pools that have untreated water that serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. On the flip side the mosquito trucks that spray kill millions of honey bee’s in eastern Hernando that are key to pollinating our blue berry crops.

  1. #2 is actually: Proposing an amendment to Section 6 of Article VII and the creation of Section 32 of Article XII of the State Constitution to expand the availability of the property discount on the homesteads of veterans who became disabled as the result of a combat injury to include those who were not Florida residents when they entered the military and schedule the amendment to take effect January 1, 2013.

So this is extending something already in place. While worthy, if passed, Amendment 2’s estimated impact on school taxes during fiscal year 2013-14 would be a combined $1.1 million in school districts across the state, $2.3 million in fiscal year 2014-15, and $3.6 million in fiscal year 2015-16.

    • Thanks for the heads up… we have amended our choice from a Yes to a No… not because we want to help out the school system, but because we believe in States Rights and do not believe that non-Floridians should be getting the same benefits that natives get.

Our views on the school system are very libertarian in the sense that we believe that they should all be Charter Schools, and that the State and the Federal Government should have no say in local schools and how they are operated.

Thanks for the feedback, and keep reading!
